no initial side effects
Cons:
over time, realized that depression was increasing during use
Doxepin is generic for Sinequan. I was using both generic & brand. The use of it had no initial bad side effects that stopped my use of it. However over time, my depression level started to get worse. The depression couldn't get under control, so the med was changed.

sleep is great and medicine does not wear off
Cons:
I have been talking Doexepin since 2003 for urticaria or hives. They put me on it after taking Prednisone for 10 days. I used to take Atarax for hives but it "wore off" after awhile and did not work at all. Doxepin really "holds" for a full day. I mean symptoms do not ever break through it's amazing.. I am now taking only 10mg at night. I was taking 45mg after being on Prednisone.

suicidal ideations, weight gained
changed to doxepin from prozac to reduce agitation but supposedly to lift up depression... however, depression got worsen and hosility increased...paranoid, tiredness, attempted to overdose to prevent waking up, weight gained up to 2 stones, purple stretch marks over abdomen and arms, cut off the world and people, long term off sick work etc not recommend this to anyone who may have bipolar disorder.
